Cadillac Vehicles Recalled for Risk of Leg Injuries
General Motors is issuing an auto product defect recall for more than 20,000 Cadillac vehicles because of the risk of leg injuries in the event of a car accident. According to a CNN news report, the recall includes 2009 and 2010 model year Cadillac CTS all-wheel-drive cars and CTS-V performance sedans.
These vehicles reportedly do not comply with federal safety requirements in terms of the manner in which they protect smaller passengers who are not buckled up during car crashes. According to a letter sent out by GM to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in car crashes involving smaller, unbelted occupants, the risk of injury to the thigh bone is higher than what is permitted under federal law. GM dealers will reconfigure the glove compartment assembly to fix the problem, done free of charge to consumers.
